Recollection:

To guide recollection, it could be helpful to have a few terms (from Carl Jung) to assist the process. In that way, recollection has form.

Carl Jung

Carl Jung

"The major structures of the psyche for Jung include the ego, which is comprised of the persona and the shadow. The persona is the 'mask' which the person presents the world, while the shadow holds the parts of the self which the person feels ashamed and guilty about.

In men, the anima represents the feminine aspects of the psyche, while the animus represents the masculine aspects of the psyche in women. The whole of the archetypal organization
of the person, for Jung, is called the Self, the unity of the whole towards which the individuation process strives for balance and harmony."

Carl Jung

"Carl Jung was one of the creators of modern depth psychology, which seeks to facilitate a conversation with the unconscious energies which move through each of us. He contributed many ideas which continue to inform contemporary life: complex, archetype, persona, shadow, anima and animus, personality typology, dream interpretation, individuation, and many other ideas. He had a deep appreciation of our creative life and considered spirituality a central part of the human journey. His method of interpretation of symbolic expression not only deepens our understanding of personal material, opening the psychodynamics of our personal biographies and dreams, but the deeper, collective patterns which develop within culture as well. In his memoir, Memories, Dreams, Reflections, Jung wrote that meaning comes “when people feel they are living the symbolic life, that they are actors in the divine drama."

Carl Jung

"Carl Gustav Jung, a Swedish born psychiatrist, and student of Sigmund Freud, introduced a valuable theory of personality to the field of psychology. During his relationship with Freud, Jung developed an independent theory of personality. Jung emphasized five major archetypes: persona, anima, animus, shadow, and self. With a heavy reliance upon these identified archetypes, Jung constructed what he believed was a comprehensive beginning to the understanding of the human psyche."

Recollection

"Recollection, as understood in respect to the spiritual life, means attention to the presence of God in the soul. It includes the withdrawal of the mind from external and earthly affairs in order to attend to God and Divine things. It is the same as interior solitude in which the soul is alone with God."
